Sawmill Operations

We process timber and salvaged lumber on a Kasco band sawmill. This sawmill is very efficient. Waste is reduced significantly because the blade is 1/8" thick, instead of a circular sawmill's 3/8" thick blade. A thinner blade means more material converted to dimensional lumber instead of sawdust.

We have experience with a wide variety of tree species, large and small. Is your neighbor cutting down an old tree? Are you clearing land for a new home? Turn that material into furniture, flooring, or possibly the cabinets for your home.

Speaking of furniture, this is a unique way memories can be kept. Remember that tree you played in as a child? Tearing down the old barn on the family farm? These are some prime sources for quality furniture stock.

The tree, barn timbers, or other similar finds can be prepared for you, or a craftsman from Jensen's Cabinet Shop! We like to cut the timber in sequence so the grain patterns can be incorporated into a design plan. We also have a kiln on-site. This allows us to carefully dry the lumber to it's proper moisture content. The steps taken before fabrication are as critical as the construction itself. We don't take shortcuts.

Any item made using our processes will surely be passed down with a story of it's history for generations to come. We strongly suggest getting any pictures of that old tree or building and keeping them with the furniture.

We find it very rewarding to assist you in preserving a piece of your family history.
